Our Rewilding Project Giving Back to Nature AONB

Our Rewilding Project Restoring Nature in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
At Absolute Organic Wine, our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted and we are excited to share the above flourishing ecosystem within our Carbon Sink to balance our business carbon footprint. The Carbon Sink is situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering spectacular wild views of treasured landscapes within the Sperrin Mountains.
A Landscape Steeped in History and Natural Wonder
The terrain has been known by various names of its journey- Originally called "Strabane" in Gaeilge meaning " White Strand" due to being located on a now depleted lake- it was also known as "Glebe Lands" being once owned by the Church of Ireland until the destablisment of the Irish Church in the Act of 1869, whereupon our ancestors purchased this land, beginning a legacy of stewardship in this remarkable and protected area.
One can enjoy breathtaking views across the rolling hills and heather-clad slopes of the Sperrin Mountains. This region’s wild, unspoilt character and rich biodiversity make it a haven for wildlife and a source of inspiration and we will share in this beauty in our rewilding collage.
Our Rewilding Vision
Our mission is to restore native habitats, protect local wildlife, and enhance the biodiversity of this beautiful and ecologically significant area.
-
Restoring Native Habitats: We dedicate parts of the farm to native trees, wildflowers, and hedgerows, creating vital habitats for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
-
Supporting Biodiversity: By fostering a thriving ecosystem, we help maintain the natural balance and wild beauty that define this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
-
Sustainable Farming Practices: Our organic and biodynamic wine business aligns with these efforts, working in harmony with nature to source wines that reflect our values.
