The Rhone is in southern France and divided into Northern and Southern Rhone with strict regulation of varieties. The soils of Northern Rhone are rocky and granite and the vines struggle to get the pure fruit experience.

The soils of the Southern Rhone have rocky limestone and sandy soils, whilst the king of Southern Rhone, Chateau Neuf Du Pape have large flat stones called "Galets" from ancient river beds of various ages.

Northern Rhone; Northern Rhone is the home of the Syrah grape, so Croze Hermitage reflects this.
