Cotes du Rhône red wine France Domaine la Guintrandy 2024

Côtes du Rhône is the great everyday red of southern France, and Domaine la Guintrandy makes a particularly satisfying one. The estate sits at the gateway to the Enclave des Papes, around Visan and Tulette, on land the abbey of Cluny owned a thousand years ago; the name itself comes from the Visigoth word Guntran. Winemaker Olivier Cuilleras has been praised by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and we also stock the domaine's Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Cairanne.

The 2024 is 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah: deep ruby-purple, with ripe black fruit, juicy blueberry and a hint of spice, full-bodied and round with structured tannins. At 14.2% it is generous rather than tough, and it will happily keep for up to five years. A wine for midweek pasta, a casserole or simply a Friday evening.
