Chateau De Fontenille AOC Cadillac Cotes De Bordeaux 2022

Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux lies on the right bank of the Garonne, south-east of the city, and is one of Bordeaux's quieter sources of good-value red. Château de Fontenille's version is an even split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from 5.7 hectares of stony gravel facing south and south-west. Production is small, around 26,660 bottles, and the wine spends 18 months in barrel, half of them new.

The oak shows as structure rather than sweetness. It is deep ruby, with black cherry and spice, full-bodied and firm: a proper barrel-aged Bordeaux for a roast or a well-aged cheese.
