Domaine Langlois Les Grands Chenes,Loire 2021

Les Grands Chênes is pure Sauvignon Blanc from the Coteaux du Giennois, a small Loire appellation a short way from Sancerre, grown on flinty silex soils. It is aged on its lees in steel, and 40% of the wine then spends four months in French oak from the Bertranges forest: enough to add texture without masking the fruit.

Deep gold, with lemon, honeysuckle and dried flowers, it is precise and lively, with mandarin and orange peel on the finish. The Langlois family farm organically, keeping hedgerows and cover crops for wildlife and healthy soils. It will drink well for five to ten years.
