Lyre Glass Claret Jug Decanter with Ground-In Stopper, 75cl

For much of the nineteenth century, claret was brought to the English table not in a bottle but in a jug. The Lyre Claret Jug takes that old habit and gives it a modern outline: crisp, angular glass, a generous handle for pouring, and a ground-in glass stopper that sits snugly in the neck.

It comfortably holds a standard 75cl bottle, so a whole bottle can be decanted in one go. Pouring a young Bordeaux, Rioja or Rhône red into it an hour or so before dinner lets the wine open up, while the stopper keeps it covered once the first glasses are poured. It's equally good for white wine, water at the table, or our alcohol-free wines when you want them to look the part.

Clean-lined rather than ornate, it sits as happily on a kitchen table as at a formal dinner, and it makes a thoughtful gift for weddings, anniversaries, retirements and housewarmings.
